Macro Lens Photography

I came across this "Macro + Wide Angle" lens for mobile phones few weeks ago and bought it to have some fun with macro photography.

The one I bought is this "clip-on" type that can be used by simply clipping it over the edge of the phone with the lens aligned to the phone's lens.

Today I've taken some close-up pictures with the macro lens and I will show them beside their respective original photo taken without the lens.

There's also the Wide-Angle lens that comes with the package and I touch on that at a later time.

These pictures were taken indoor at night under florescent lighting, which explains the poor photo quality.
But still, the macro effect is apparent.

  1. The Macro is nice. I coujld use that for my stamp collection or coins. But Alas, I have a Galaxy S3 android. Haven't seen Lenses for it yet.

  2. In college 50 years ago, I had a darkroom, loaded my own cassettes with TriX B&W and took closeups with external lenses and rings that I paid $1 for. I had an Argus C3 rangefinder for my 35mm TriX negativesKodaChrome slides. Now It's my old Canon 870 Elph, wearing a 16GB WiFi SD card and my Samsung Galaxy S3 cell. I use that cell so Verizon can look at my useage and report to the NSA and FBI in the USA - wait, that's a joke.

    1. Sure got me on the FBI part! :)
I've never been to a darkroom before. But that's the time when people treasured their photos most right?

    2. We printed photos for the "rich" architecture students for their project folders in college. I think i charged the, $2 each for 8x10. It cost me $0.50 I think plus my "labor" (free)

We did a lot of work at night when the apartment was dark if we cut off the lights. The apartment rent was only $75 and that included water and lights and heat. Ah, those were the days.

  3. David, as mentioned before, the lens design is using a generic flexible plastic clip which should clamp quite fittingly on your S3.

Anyway, I knew that you've bought one by now.
    Happy shooting!

    1. Yep, bought one set of two last night when the mood was hot for me. They look like clothes pins. I like yours better.

  4. Trying to find a "freeware software developer" like I used to be, to take on my latest project to control my Images which are everywhere.

I figure it would be someone who can show a JPG and allow the filename to change by user editting or entering a new filename or pressing a button/key ... and more.

Let me know when you are bored and ready for a weekend challege, maybe 4 days/2 weekends. I would hold the copyright to insure it stayed as FREEWARE for the world. You would, of ocurse, be the software engineer for it in the credits.

I have ideas for $2-5 Paypal additions that work with it but that's later... much later. You could own them and make money?? Windows platform a must.

Let me know when you are 95% finished with Jovial ClipBoard and NotePad development.

  5. Yes, David, I’m on for this weekend challenge!
Will be working this Saturday (as mentioned in my earlier email).
But do send me details on that. I could start very soon. Money is secondary.

    Hear from you soon!

    1. It's in the mail. Just promise me that you will argue with me first before you reject its idea.

Sorry i am so late with a reply here. Look forward to your comments about it.

Looking forward to Jovial Notepad's new version.
